Default iPhone 4 stock 4.0.2 to JB 4.1

    Hi,

My gf has an iPhone 4 with stock 4.0.2 fw. Is it possible to JB to 4.1 fw? I'm pretty sure Apple is no longer signing 4.1. Is she stuck at 4.0.2 until the next JB software release with a current FW that is being signed by Apple? I should mention I'd like to preserve the BB, hence upgrade to 4.1.

Any info or confirmations are greatly appreciated.

You would need SHSH for 4.1 to do this.

In other words, she is stuck @ 4.0.2? I don't know how I can get a 4.1 SHSH when she hasn't upgraded to 4.1.

You dont need to be on 4.1 to save 4.1 SHSH. Download tiny umbrella to check what SHSH you have.

Thanks. I just saved the SHSH from 4.0.1 all the way to 4.3 for her phone. TinyUmbrella said the request was sent to Cydia for 4.1.

Assuming all this info is correct. I can proceed to use PwnageTool to upgrade her to a JB 4.1 by redirecting the upgrade host to the alternate IP address?

If tiny umbrella has your 4.1 SHSH now just start the tss server then shift restore to a 4.1 firmware. You will get a 1004 error (it is a good thing) just use tiny umbrella to exit recovery when you do. DO NOT restore to 4.2.1 for any reason. And double check to make sure you have the 4.1 SHSH first. You dont want to do this unless you know you have them.
