    Default iPhone 3Gs firmware on a 3G???

I'm trying to jailbreak an iphone 3G, and as I continue to be unsuccessful with redsn0w, I go to check the firmware version and its a 3Gs (8C148a) firmware but its running (quite smoothly I might add) but how is that possible? Can someone explain that to me because I officially have a headache.

No I don't but I do have gamecenter and native background and multitasking enabled.... iTunes and iPhoneBrowser both identify it as a 3G, but the firmware is the 3Gs firmware, I tried to restore with the 3G firmware and it won't take it

Yes the number you gave is for the firmware version, not necessarily to define which device it is for.
