Hello all. I received some help last night to jailbreak my iphone 3gs on 4.2.1. Using Redsnow I was able to jailbreak and update the baseband. However, after I finally started my iphone after jailbreak I went into Cydia and downloaded some package updates which it then asked me to reboot.
I knew I would have to do a tethered reboot. However, when I tried to turn off my iphone using the home and other button it would turn off for about 2 seconds and then would automatically turn on again to the apple logo. If I leave it long enough it just has the spin wheel on the top of the apple logo. The problem is I cannot turn off the iphone because it just keeps restarting...
Thanks for the video. However, I followed his steps to a T... however, after I click next instead of doing the hold sleep for 3 seconds, then both for 10 and then 15 on home... my redsnow skips that and just goes into the initializing where it fails
I decided to restart my computer... that did the trick! I was able to complete those steps. I decided to do a fresh jailbreak and baseband update... just to make sure. That went smoothly and completed. Then I went back into redsn0w and did the tethered reboot. The pineapple came up for about 20 seconds, followed by an apple logo for about 20 seconds then permanently followed by the connect to itunes logo.... what the heck. went. wrong. About to freak out, I just can't win with this thing.
Well once and for all i figured it out! I had to do a custom restore in itunes, then re-jailbreak, then tether start, unlocked it and am now good to go! I appreciate your continued help!
