Default iPhone stuck on Apple Logo after Reset

I have a 3G 16GB iPhone. It is on iOS 3.1.2 Jailbroken and Unlocked. I did a full reset from the iPhone itself and ended up with it locked on apple logo with the little spinning wheel that stops and starts moving very slow until it reboots itself.

I have tried putting it into DFU mode using all the methods possible but cannot get it to go into DFU mode to restore. It is not recognized by the PC or iTunes.

Is it possible this thing is bricked. The power is ok and so is the dock connector.

Any suggestions as to what i could do

    Thanks and much appreciated

Hi, I have pressing the power button for 3 seconds, then at the same time holding the home button for 10 seconds ... But nothing happens. It doesn't switch off nor does it reset. I have also tried holding the power button and home button at the same time. No joy ..

Try this: Plug in the phone, hold home and power for exactly 10 seconds, then let go of power and keep holding home for an additional 10 seconds. Then see if itunes recognizes it in recovery.

Yeah I've tried that one too . It just simply does not switch off as it should when you press the power button and home button for any amount of time. It just stays on the apple logo .. Thanks for your help anyway

Try a different cable or even computer. The phone may not be recognizing that is is plugged in. Although it should still restart when holding the two buttons together. very strange.
