Please Help: Custom Restore 4.1
Yesterday I downloaded a Winterboad dock theme from Cydia that WRECKED my iphone 4. I'm convinced it was malware as it didn't load in like a typical theme... lots of code, then asked me to restart springboard. Afterwards it would only boot in safe mode, even after deleting theme and further troubleshooting. (BEWARE: it was in the normal repositories, called Black Dock or something like that)
Tried restoring my custom 4.1 IPSW, but since apple doesn't offer 4.1 anymore, it says "ineligible device restore." And I don't know what happened to my saved SHSH!!! (It's not in TinyUmbrella anymore and Cydia doesn't have a record of my "Make it easier for me" thing).
Out of desperation, I started a TSS server and tried loading my custom 4.1 IPSW. It seemed to restore properly, but it rebooted back into DFU mode.
I was able to tether boot it with Redsn0w, then tried to restore my latest back up in iTunes. Loaded fine, but then booted back in DFU mode.
I'm still stuck in DFU mode, Itunes keeps giving me restore errors 1600 and 20008.
Any advice on to get my iPhone back in a working "4.1 Jailbreak" state?
At this point, am I forced to update to 4.2.1?
-Thanks
iPhone 4 (4.1 jailbreak)
Mac OS 10.6.6
TinyUmbrella 4.21.02
PwnageTool 4.1.3
Redsn0w 9.6b6

Without SHSH you will be in that continual dfu loop everytime you turn the phone off or even put it to sleep for more than a few minutes.

Why don't you restore to a clean stock 4.1 ipsw, then jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.6b6?
I'm pretty sure the theme isn't malware, it wouldn't pass through to Cydia if it was. Sometimes certain installations mess up like that, I've had a couple of those happen before one one device but not another.
Just re-do the restore with your SHSHs to a clean 4.1, then jb with Redsn0w. You'll probably run into error 1015 when restoring so just kick it out of recovery with TinyUmbrella after you hit the error. Then jb as normal.

Can't get it to restore, even with a clean 4.1 IPSW. Get a 1600 error.
TinyUmbrella now longer has any my saved SHSHs, not even for my other iphones, I don't know where they all went!

Are you sure you even had 4.1 SHSH in the first place? When did you press the make my life easier thing?

My bad. He said he had them but don't know where they went. That could explain the downgrade and getting stuck in DFU to 4.1.

x98car, I'm pretty sure I saved the SHSH for 4.1... I guess there is a chance I didn't. But the weird thing is TinyUmbrella doesn't even have my saved SHSHs from my 3GS anymore.
I pressed the "make things better" about a month ago...

Apple stopped signing 4.1 beginning of December I believe so a month ago may not have been in time to save your SHSH.

Lol I'm sorry to laugh, it's just you keep changing the "make my life easier" thing every time you say it. Anyway, there's a chance it never got saved. It happened to my 3G before when I had it. I had 4.0 to 4.0.1 saved but then next thing you know I go to sell it and restore, it tells me I don't have any saved. It happens, don't know why. I also saved it in TU and in Cydia before, but nonetheless it wasn't there anymore after two weeks.

Hm yeah it's just a major pain in the butt to use a custom fw with iPhone 4.
