Tired of waiting around for the un-tethered 4.2.1 jailbreak, I've decided I'm going to give the tethered jailbreak a try. I know very little about it, so if someone here could answer my questions before I give it a shot I'd greatly appreciate it.
1.) If I restart my phone, how long will it take to re-jailbreak it? Would I have to do the whole process again? Would I lose all my Winterboard themes?
2.) I heard somewhere that if I do a tethered jailbreak on 4.2.1, and wish to do the un-tethered jailbreak on 4.2.1, (when it's released), I must restore my phone prior to doing the un-tethered jailbreak...
You won't lose anything if you boot tethered. It isn't rejailbreaking the phone. It shouldn't take that long but could take a few minutes.
It's probably not a good idea to download/update Cydia apps if you don't have access to a computer because some Cydia items require rebooting. A reboot prompted by Cydia is not avoidable. It goes the same for when the phone shuts off. You won't be able to access your phone until you get to a computer.
What about the crashing for the tethered Jailbreak? I decided to jailbreak to the new 4.2.1, and I have constant crashes from SMS messages to when I make phone calls, it is always going into safe mode. Is there a way around these, or do we just have to wait for a new update to come up.
With that also is there a way to downgrade back down?
I don't know if the crashing has anything to do with the jailbreak. The best fix is to probably restore and set up as new and jailbreak again. The only way to downgrade is if you have SHSHs saved.
So I went ahead and did the jailbreak. Only problem I'm having now is that Cyida crashes immediately upon opening. The app itself is just a white square on the springboard. Anyone know what's causing this or more importantly how to fix it?
