Default Computer crashed - please help with syncing

I have a jailbroken iPhone 4, running 4.0.1. I also use mobile me for email. The computer I was using to sync with crashed and now I have to set up another "sync station". How can I do this and make sure that I don't lose any Contacts, Music, Calendars and such. I've plugged it in to the new iTunes comp, but I haven't checked anything to sync yet in fear of losing important data. I can SSH into the phone, so if that's the answer then I'm more than ready to go there. I don't mind 'upgrading' to 4.2.1 either.

Any advice would be very appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,

Your best bet is to ssh in and take any info you want and copy to the new computer so when you sync to the itunes it uses that data. But I thought mobile me was cloud storage ? So shouldn't you be able to retrieve this info via mobile me?

Captain - Thanks for the reply. Mobile Me is cloud storage, but I don't know if I restore and I set up my mobile me stuff again if it will sync with my blank contact list. I guess you know my fear. I can SSH in to it and grab what I need, but I won't be able to once I 'upgrade' to put things back in. I think I may just go to 4.1 (on 4.0 now) and jailbreak then. That way I can SSH back in. What should my steps be to get from 4.0 to 4.1? BTW, I'm on a Windows machine.

Ok. I've downloaded the 4.1 firmware from this site, pressed shift-restore in iTunes, and used the 4.1 firmware. It says the Apple is verifying the software, and then says it can't restore. I'm assuming that "restore" means same OS that was on the phone before (remember I have 4.0.1). How can I upgrade to 4.1 not all the way to 4.2?
