upgrade 3gs

hello guys can someone please help me. i have a 3gs 4.1 and i like to upgrade it to 4.2 how can i do it without upgrading my firmware. thanks in advance

4.1 and 4.2.1 are firmwares, I think you mean not updating the baseband. To update from 4.1 to 4.2.1 you would need a mac computer and pwnagetool, because sn0wbreeze currently does not accept 4.2.1 fw. Why would you not want to change the baseband? Both the baseband from 4.1 (5.14.xx) and 4.2.1 (5.15.xx) cannot be unlocked without flashing to the ipad baseband 6.15.00. I would stay at 4.1 just because it still offers an untethered jailbreak whereas 4.2.1 does not with a 3gs.

thanks and sorry for being a noob. i don't like to update my bb 5.14.xx to 5.15.xx because maybe they will release the unlock for the 5.14.xx first or am i wrong?

Everyones new at some point. I would stay a 4.1 just to keep an untethered jailbreak. As far as im aware there is no unlock being worked on for 5.14.xx. hopefully someone is though. I would just sit tight for the moment at 4.1 because 4.2.1 does not add anything worthwhile.
