Default iPhone 3G, worth upgrading from 3.13 to 4.1?

I'm doing this for my uncle so I wanted to know if it's worth the upgrade via pwnagetool? He's factory locked.

If he doesn't need unlock and he wants the folder's feature and you have 4.1 blob, then you can restore to stock 4.1 after having your hosts file pointing towards cydia for verification.
If you need unlock, everything will be the same but you need to run redsn0w to put you into dfu mode before running itunes and restore to custom firmware of 4.1.
For 3g, 4.1 will definitely be slower and may freeze up when all the RAM resources has been used up. So it is your call whether to leave it at 3.1.3 or go for ios 4.1 ( not 4.0 cos it is full of bugs)

My 3G is running on 4.1 with no problems, it is barely slower then 3.1.3 and worth the upgrade,

BUT, if you rely on a unlock as iYeow said use a CFW and you will need t5o be in PWNdfu to restore to CFW. and if its a 3G or old bootrom 3GS you do not need to point to cydia for verification, (i didn't.)
Hit the thanks button if i helped in anyway

Hey I don't have a MAC so I used sn0wbreeze 2.1 to make a custom firmware but after the whole processes was done, it keeps freezing the iPhone at the apple logo.

Would you mind cooking me a firmware? I want hacktivation on it and "all features reenabled"

    Redsn0w pwneddfu mode. 0.9.6b2 I believe.

I made the firmware with sn0wbreeze 2.1 but couldn't get it into pwneddfu mode by using sn0wbreeze. It restored but after it's done restoring it just hangs at the apple logo.

Try creating a new custom fw with sn0wbreeze 2.0.2. 2.1 is unstable for iPhone 3G. Then pwn DFU mode with redsn0w and restore.
