    Default iPhone4 can't restore

Hello fellow iPhone rebels/insurgents and individualists.

I am trying to restore my iPhone4 but Steve keeps telling me my device is ineligible for a restore. I have Jailbroken my beloved Apple communication device which is now 4.2.1. capable. I am not trying to downgrade to anything....but just doing a straight restore. I still get the "Device is ineligeble for requested build".....que pasa folks?

Open tiny umbrella , go to advance and uncheck set hosts file to cydia and close it. Now do your restore to 4.2.1 as you requested the latest.

Haha, Simon, i beat you this time

Well the latest firmware is 4.2.1, but you shouldnt get that error when restoring to that. Your device info says you are on 4.1. Are you trying to restore to that?

Go to the front page of cydia, if it says 4.1 shsh blob, then you can.

Give what Yeow said a go and see if it helps. Did you download the firmware yourself or let iTunes do it?

I tried the tiny umbrella approach and still Steve tells me I can't restore. I upgraded with iTunes....I can't remember if I upgraded and let iTunes do the downloading or not. I do have the 4.2.1 ipsw downloaded but its in my Downloads folder because I use that to reboot using redSnow.

Where did you get the ipsw from? cause if you didnt get it from iTunes, you have to make sure it says iPhone 3,1. Thats the ipsw file type that works with iphone 4

How do I force itunes into doing that? It doesnt seem to give me the option. Infact when I go to restore it says "extracting software" and everything is fine...I get the error message when it goes to the "veryifing blah blah blah" section

thanks for all the help by the way.

Try deleting the restore file from where itunes downloads it to get itunes to download it again.
