Right basiclly I am a bit confused with my JB iphone.

I have Googled for days trying to figure out the solution but as from I have read, everyone is stuck on the same problem as I.

Iphone 3g
Version 4.1(8B117)
modem Firmware 06.15.00

I used Redsn0w_win_0.9.6b5
and i am on Vista.

I have also installed SAM and di-activated sim,un-checked 3G and I really what a straight answer from an expert.

Yes, i installed Ultrasn0w 2.1 before the first Cydia update.

Alright, now i want you to run redsn0w 0.9.6RC8 , browse to stock 4.1 fw, choose only ipad bb again and finished up the process.

Ok, when you say browse to stock 4.1fw, do i have to download it?

Of course, you might already have it since you have restored to 4.1 before.

Ok proccessed completed and it seems that I have the same theme I had before(maybe thats norm).
I see my carrier 02 but no signal bar.

Reinstall Ultrasn0w again or wait for the signal to arrive , sometimes it takes awhile.

OK, when i get Waiting for activation on the screen do I have to do anything to activate it, or dismiss or just leave it ?

Plug into itunes to get it activated or pull and plug back use cable. Once activated, you will have signal.

Your sim must have service .

do i have to update 4.2.1 on itunes?

You have the ipad baseband, you cannot restore to stock 4.2.1 , only custom fw of 4.2.1. If you need airprint and airplay on your mac, then you need to update to 4.2.1 , otherwise NO, stay at 4.1 for now.

Sorry but i have another silly question. I re-inserted my sim and got itunes up then itunes does the syncing but how do i activate it? i already have an Apple account but I cannot see activation anywhere?

Once your iphone sees the carrier after unlock, your iphone should activate automatically, otherwise it will keep saying waiting for acitvation.

Do i have to unistall Itunes and its registry?

I already have my iphone registried with Itunes and so it doesn't tell me to activate it.

Did you put a sim with service on it, as soon as you plug into itunes connected to internet, it take less than a minute to activate. You mentioned that you see your 02 carrier, it should activate, not sure why it can't.

all i get is a 'waiting for activation' pop up on my iphone.

I keep asking you whether you have put in a sim card that has service and plug in into itunes but you never answer back.

Use a different sim that has service to activate it.
