[WinSCP] Problem... Password mismatch?
Hi all,
I am experiencing an issue that is driving me crazy.
I am trying to SSH into my iPhone 4 (4.1 limer1an JB) via WinSCP, using the typical root/alpine combination. The thing is that I keep getting:
Earlier today I could easily SSH into my iPhone, the only thing I have installed is a commercial tweak from Cyidia called "External iPod controls", which was just released.Using username: "root"
Authenticating with pre-entered password.
Access denied.
I have googled the error and the only thing I found was that the alpine password is obviously different. But it's still alpine, cause I can log in as superuser via mobileterminal using the alpine password. I also tried changing the root password to 12345 and still no luck, WinSCP won't recognize any valid password.
What is going on?
Thanks everyone.

In your mobile terminal, if you have changed the password, then winscp must also match the password in order for Winscp to open up.
If you forgot it, then uninstall and reinstall Mobile terminal again and key in the right password.Last edited by iYeow; 01-16-2011 at 01:14 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

It's not that... What I said is that I changed the pw in mobile terminal and then used that pw in WinSCP but it still wouldn't let me SSH into the iPhone, I just wanted to discard the possibility that my root password had changed.
So back to the issue... Any ideas?

Have you generated the keys yet from MobileTerminal on your iphone. Looks like this "ssh [email protected]" without the quote.

How do you exactly generate the keys from the mobile terminal? Do I need to log in as super user first?
I generated a new key, when trying to ssh into the iPhone with WinSCP i got the pop up alert asking if i wanted to add the key or something, I hit yes, and then the same error comes up: "Access denied".
This is driving me crazy.
Any more ideas? Other than a restore?Last edited by Alphadan; 01-18-2011 at 03:06 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
