    Default is apple sneaky?

hey guys. so I've got an iPhone 3gs running 4.1 jb, and I've been having pretty poor battery performance (or atleast I think so) so I've been having a bit of a debate with myself whether or not replace it. I've got quotes from non apple people and they've said 80 bucks, and on the apple site it says 110. so I've got a few questions that I would love to have answered...

    1) at these non apple servicers, would they use dogdy batteries, that might wreck my iPhone?

    2) I've looked on eBay and also thought the same thing, are they dogdy or genuine? I've bought a new screen and battery for my itouch but I don't really care if I wreck that, I son really need it.

    3) would apple be sneaky and replace my hardware? I have an old bootrom 3gs. and want to keep it that way - I love the custom boot logos. I also have a few shsh blobs for this and don't want to lose them. is there anyway apple could, theoretically replace this part in this device that the shsh blobs are specific to? so the shsh I have would no longer work? if that makes sense. I love 4.1, it's the most stable and best firmware, as it is jailbreakable

any help would be hugely appreciated.

and sorry mods if this is in the wrong section, I looked but this was as good as I could find. thanks heaps!

What battery issues are you having first ? I personally would Restore to 4.1 and re jailbreak and set up as a new phone (unless you did this when you first Jailbroke the phone) as if you restored from backup on your last Jailbreak this could effect the battery performance.

You could buy your own battery and replace it, Just you tube it and it will show you how and you would save a few $$$

thanks for the reply pratt. well just it's dying down much quicker than id like. when im listening to music, it just drains. I've restored many times and re-jailbroken to see which jailbreak is the best, battery wise and which one has the least bugs, tried everything but greenpois0n, even tried a cfw witch ive got atm, then jailbroke it with redsn0w just so I could get custom boot logo lol. and yeah I know I could, but would those batteries be dodgy and potentially harm my device?

But like i said have you set up as a new phone or restored from backup ? as it could be something you are just transferring each time.

I would jailbreak again and set up as new, at least you will eliminate that as an issue

oh yep see what you mean yeah, atm, I think it's just set up as a new iPhone, but if it isn't it would be from a backup no more than a week or two old. I'm on holis atm, so I'll restore when I get back in a week and I'll let you know how it goes - thanks.
