    Default iPhone 4 Recovery Problem

I have a iPhone 4 running tethered JB 4.2.1. I had a problem with redsn0w on my Mac. I tried rebooting just like always, but it came back with an unexpected problem and wouldn't work. I tried to restore in iTunes, and I got error 1601. I started Tiny Umbrella, and started the server, then tried it, and once again after staying at Preparing iPhone For Restore for a long time, it gave message 1601. Tiny Umbrella won't even give me the option to kick it out of recovery. I desperately need help.

Tiny Umbrella doesn't even show the device as connected when I run it.

Are you trying to restore to a regular 4.2.1 or a custom one? Also do you require unlock or are you on official carrier? You dont need to use tiny umbrella at all when restoring to 4.2.1.

Do a hard reset, if it goes into frozen apple logo, use a PC, run redsn0w in xp compatibility mode, to tether boot.
