Default iP4 restore and baseband preserve

    ok...iPhone 4, 4.1, 02.10.04

I did something stupid and got it stuck in a crash loop. I am downloading the 4.1 software and I have SHSH on file so I can restore back to 4.1. I'm in Afghanistan though and the download is going to take forever (days...seriously)

Can I restore the phone through iTunes, let it update to 4.2.***blabla, and retain the baseband then restore it to 4.1 later once I have the firmware? If I can't retain the baseband is it possible to take it back to 4.1 later so i can have an unteathered jb even if the baseband updates?

If this is possible, how would I retain the baseband? I'm not realy worried about an unlock so does it realy matter anyway?

iTunes will still have to download the 4.2.1 firmware so you may as well just wait for the 4.1 download to finish.
