Trouble deciding on whether or not to jailbreak
Hello there : ) I'd just like to start this topic by saying that I am new here, and the reason I created this account here is because, I'd like to get some questions answered and hopefully, help other people to : )
First off, I have an iPhone 4 16GB, running on 4.2.1.
I tried jailbreaking it by using the tethered jailbreak, and well, it all worked fine. I was installing five-columns and five-dock, but when I were going to reboot my device, well it got stuck on the apple logo. And I am quite a newbie when it comes to these kind of stuff, and I usually panic a little bit when stuff doesn't go my way. After about 3 hours or so (true) I found out that I had to restore my iphone to a previous state, from a safety copy on itunes. So I did, and I lost cydia and all those other jailbreaked stuff.
So, I decided to try again, jailbreaking, installing apps from cydia. I had to reboot, so I did. But, it got stuck there again.
So why won't it work properly? Is this because of the tethered jailbreak? Is it unstable and very bugged? Or is it because of my iphone?
Really, I just want to get a theme for the most part. To be more exact, the Xquisite one. But when things are going like this, that is not going to happen.
So does anyone have a fix for that? : )
PS: Should I use the tethered jailbreak, or the untethered jailbreak for mac? Or should I wait for the final untethered jailbreak?
And, this is all for iOS 4.2.1.
Thank you for you're time : )

You need to use the option in redsnow to boot tethered every time you reboot.

Ohh, I forgot to add that part, which is that I do reboot using the option: "Just Booth Tethered etc."
So well, I don't know what is wrong : (

It may be one of those tweaks isnt compatible with 4.2.1 then and is causing you to go into boot loop.

Ahh, I see. Though first time I tried, everything worked smooth... for a little time. Hmm, Might be one of those five-column/dock tweakings.

Ya, probably. Just google iphone 4.2.1 cydia compatibility and you should be able to find a list of what works and what doesnt on 4.2.1
