Well I see he is charging a fee for a service because some people can't get it going for free. I see you asking for somebody to provide a service but at the same time asking to add in the option so you could steal other's work.
Seems to me he is ok. Just because a jailbreak is free doesn't mean everyone knows how to do it. So they ask others to do it and people are busy and ask for money for time spent.

yeah but my problem with it is that hes promoting piracy, and not only that at an outrageous price. it wouldnt have caught my eye and got me so worked up if he was charging 20$ like every other guy out there but hes charging alot more and exploiting other peoples hard work, and grossly taking advantage of it. I have posted adds before stating that the jailbreak and unlocking is free and how to do it and have told people to email or text me and ive walked them through it. I just dont agree with what this guys doing
haha no no no i asked him like i was a customer, i played dumb like i didnt know what was going on. I am in the iphone scene and know all about all of this. I just picked off his list of things and asked him what the deal was. I dont need the services haha, i have a jailbroken iphone 4 and am happy to pay for other devs apps. I have a dev account. It was me trying to make a point to him about basically stealing from othersLast edited by Robsbrutal; 01-13-2011 at 10:59 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Lol wow, $20 to "install an app"
That's awesome. I'm gonna start charging people $20 for me to put their phones into DFU mode.

While this stuff seems rather simplistic to you and I, there are many people who are scares by such things and are wiling to pay to make sure it is done right.

True, and that's why I do it. I just don't charge like that. $10 flat, $15 if I have to diagnose/restore first. 2 low prices

Ah, I have no idea what the going rate is. That's what is great about competition. It doesn't stand a chance if others are performing the same service for cheaper.

I'd say $15 and below is the competitive pricing that grabs the customers. In my area $25 is what most people like to put up.

Yeah. Actually I've had 2 people give me $20 even tho I quoted $15 just b/c they're so happy it is all set and done. I speed tweak the hell out of them too lol.
It gets slow when the new unlock comes out though. It's more in demand when they need to upgrade and are afraid to lose the unlock.
Some people buy the phones already jb/unlocked or had it done before but their phones mess up and needs restoring. Those are the ones I get the most. But if they consistently come back when upgrading is needed or restoring, my rate goes lower
repeat customers are the best.

i can see where you guys are coming from
ive had to drive places and meet people and fix their phone but i never charged more than my gas to get there and thats after i tried to walk them through it via email or text or phone convo. I just dont like seeing people getting taken advantage of and this guy was doing just that. and to the extremeLast edited by Robsbrutal; 01-14-2011 at 12:16 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
