iPhone 4 on 4.1 need to reinstall
Hey everyone,
So I am on an iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1 and BB 1.59. I need to restore 4.1 (sold the phone), but need to keep the unlock and jailbreak. I updated to 4.1 originally with pwnagetool to preserve the unlock. Cydia has SHSH on file for 4.0.1+.
What would be the best method to reinstall 4.1 and keep the unlock? Can I restore in DFU using the custom fw I created when I originally upgraded?
Should I just reset all settings in the iPhone menu? (I imagine this won't erase the jb, or unlock)
Thanks for any advice.

Restoring using the custom firmware you originally used (with pwned DFU) is a fine choice. I'd install ultrasn0w for them off the bat too...
Make SURE after restoring, to go into Settings -> Store and sign out your iTunes account. Apple, in all their brilliance, made it so any device restored using someone's computer automatically authenticates itself onto that iTunes account without asking for a password...

Great! Thanks so much! I am guessing I want to do the restore when the phone is in DFU mode?
And will I need tinyumbrella to kick out of recovery? Or because I'm restoring a custom fw on pwned DFU it isn't required?

Correct. Use redsn0w or PwnageTool to enter Pwned DFU specifically (just putting it in DFU mode then restoring to the custom IPSW will end in failure).
I don't suspect you'd need TU to exit recovery, but if you do, just use it (you should have TU open to deliver 4.1 SHSH blobs to that device anyway).
