Never broken, never updated... can I preserve baseband 01.59.00?

Hello, I heard we finally have an untethered break with firmware 4.2.1. I have firmware 4.0 and baseband 01.59.00. Sadly, I only began saving my SHSH at 4.2b3 and 4.2.1. Is there, or will there eventually be a way to preserve my baseband? If not, am I giving up something important? Like, I will not personally unlock, but worry I'm lowering the phone's value or barring myself from something I don't understand yet.

I want to finally jailbreak, but not if there's anything worth waiting for. How best to proceed? Is it a good time?

I would wait until pwnage tool is updated for 4.2.1 and is untethered. That is the safest way to preserve your baseband.
