    Default iPhone 3GS - Old Bootrom - How to Unlock :(

    Okay my friend has given me his new 3gs phone..

    Facts:

    Old Bootrom (359.3)
    Phone is getting struck on apple logo.
    I am not able to restore to IOS 4. 4.01, 4.1. I didnt not try for 4.2 for obvious reasons...

    I dunno which fw does the phone exactly has cos its not turning on.. seeing tht it has old Bootroom. It shud ve IOS 4 I guess

    So now how the hell I restore the software.. itunes is throwing error 3194, i tried editing the hosts file but nothing is working how do i make the phone working?

    Then download tiny umbrella, plug iphone in and click save shsh. I think you only have 4.2.1 shsh blob. So do it now to comfirm

    I did tht but it doesnt save cos the phone is in rec mode..

    Then you have to find out your ECID : iClarified - iPhone - How to Find Your iPhone ECID [Windows]
    and input into tiny umbrella, click save shsh

    Its possible you had ios 4 on there as that error is usually when you try to restore to a lower firmware. You can try using Tiny Umbrella or RecBoot to kick it out of recovery and then use Tiny Umbrella to save your shsh blobs. More then likely its only going to let you save the 4.2.1 ones as thats the current one Apple is signing at the moment. Then you can use a 4.2.1 cfw to restore.
