Hi is the iphone 4 4.2 Jailbreakable yet, sorry to ask as i have an iphone 4 running 4.1 and already jailbroken, also whats the best way to keep all my Cydia Apps please after jailbreaking?
Yes, though it is tethered if you do not have a Apple Dev account and your 4.2 Beta 3 SHSH. This means that any reboot requires a computer to complete the boot.
Pkgbackup is a great (paid) Cydia app to backup/restore your Cydia apps. However, many are still not 100% on 4.2.1, so I wouldn't necessarily use it to restore all of your Apps.
Yep, I typically use Pkgbackup to restore my apps only when restoring back to the same firmware (for whatever reason) or for small firmware changes (ie 4.0 to 4.0.1).
Hi and thanks for your reply, so what you are saying is that there is no a legit jailbreak out there yet for os 4.2 iphone 4 , am i correct, do you no when they going to release one like limerain/redsnow etc, ie an easy jailbreak or are we still waiting? thankyou from brian
There is one, but it is tethered. That means you cannot boot your phone without a computer. If you turn it off or it runs out of power, you'll have to hook it to a computer and run redsn0w before you can use it again. There are various ways to "untether" it, but none that are for average users.
I will also add that this tethered jailbreak makes use of a flaw in the hardware of the phone, which means we'll always have at least a tethered jailbreak with the current generation of devices since Apple cannot fix it through new firmware.
Hi and thats great, after reading that im not sure wether i want to now jailbreak 4.2 as will wait till the original release is out for jailbreaking, surely the dev team wont be that much longer !! , worth the wait and again thankyou for your help
