    Default Jailbreak help (iOS 4.2.1)

Hello all! First, i would like to say that I have recently recovered my iPod from an iBrick thanks to the helpful user(STRAYunINFIDEL) on this forum. I am trying to jailbreak on 4.2.1(just had to recover my jailbroken 3.1.2 that somehow had no shsh's) using redsn0w 0.9.6b6 but I also have redsn0w 0.9.6rc8(and i've tried that too w/same results). once I choose an IPSW for the correct firmware, it asks me if I have the MC model of the iPod touch 2g (i have the MB model) so I click no. the preparation loading box comes up and only one bar stays up for about a minute then it says this:

(in case the image is broken, it says 'Unexpected error during preparation')
    any suggestions??

Just looked at your pic again. You are on xp already. Try this, run redsnow then open task manager. Right click on redsnow.exe under processes and choose set affinity, uncheck all but one processor then try redsnow again.

Try downloading the firmware again from a different site, and use firefox to download it if you have it.

I dont see how it could hurt it. Worth a shot. Make sure the latest itunes is on it first.
