Limera1n not working

I have a factory unlocked iPhone 4 so I don't need to worry about unlock. I upgraded to 4.2.1 and ran Limera1n. It said it was successful but it left my phone in recovery mode. When I rebooted, I didn't have the Limera1n icon to install Cydia. I've done this a number of times with the same results using both my Mac and Windows machines. I also tried Greenpoison with equally bad results. It says it's done, but nothing changes on my phone.

You don't use Limera1n for iphone 4 at 4.2.1, you use redn0w 0.9.6rc8

Lime rain only works one 4.1 and under so you need the latest redsn0w to jailbreak

I tried redsn0w before Limera1n, but I get an error message "Only those enrolled in the iPhone developer program have legitimate access to the IPSW. Don't pirate Apple software!" It's looking for a 4.2b3 IPSW and I have 4.2.1

Yes, with Limera1n, but at this point I have a clean install of 4.2.1 on there.

download tiny umbrella and see what shsh you have saved

Tinyumbrella tells me I don't have any saved SHSH's. Cydia said I had them saved, but I don't anything about them.

Ok well you need to get a legit ipsw for 4.2.b3 and use redsn0w to jailbreak

Where do I get that? The one I downloaded was 4.3.1

Then use redsn0w 0.9.6b6 to jailbreak.

In tiny umbrella, you must click save shsh again to download the latest blob.

i have the same problem but i am running ios 4.1 8b117 firmware 02.10.04 I downloaded limera1n and it said that the jailbreak was successful but I don't see the app to install cydia

Sometimes using limera1n or Greenpois0n on 4.1 the cydia does not properly install or does not showup. You can just use Redsnow 0.9.6b4 after and then click "just install cydia" option and nothing else and it will install your cydia for you.

Restart your phone after running limera1n. Sometimes you need to reboot to get the limera1n icon to show.
