Default Downgrade from 4.2 to 4.1 with saved shsh

    Hello,

I upgraded my iphone 4 to 4.2 thinking I could jailbreak it without a tethered jailbreak. I should have read more before doing so, but too late now.

The good news, I hope, is that I have saved my shsh' with shshit and with cydia. Can I downgrade my phone back to 4.1 and jailbreak again untethered?

Thank you all in advance for the help.

If you have your SHSH for 4.1 then yes you can. Easiest way is to use tiny umbrella to do it.

If anyone knows what this error 1604 means, please let me know. I can't get the firmware to load.

Error 1604 means you are restoring to custom firmware. You should be restoring to stock 4.1 firmware.
Have you used tiny umbrella ?

Yes i am using tiny umbrella. I downloaded the 4.1 firmware from this link http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ on the tiny umbrella instructions from above. I didn't see anywhere that it was custom.

Where can I download the factory 4.1 firmware?

    Thanks,

That is the regular firmware then. Not sure why you are getting that error then. Try downgrading without using tiny umbrella.

I ended up not using tiny umbrella and just modfied my hostfile to redirect to cydia server, it worked the first time I tried it. The firmware is not the issue.

    Thanks, for all the help.
