iPod Touch 4.1 Jailbreakable?
I got friends iPod Touch 3g (8A400) MC086LL sitting at 4.1. It used to have Spirit Jailbreak but then the dumbass restored it...

I tried to jailbreak it using Limerain but it just gets stuck in DFU mode and does not proceed according to the guide.
See, the difference between Spirit and Limerain is that when I used Spirit, it just took me one click and I was done! It does not work that way with Limerain, I'm sure you understand.
I guess my ultimate question and the overall reason why I started this thread would be whether there is a jailbreak similar to Spirit in the executable way and, so far, what are my best options?
Thank you for all the feedback!

If it has iOS 4.1 you can jailbreak with greenpois0n. Here is a link GreenPois0n

Before I try it out and most likely erase all of my friends data I want to ask if it is in any way similar to Spirit? Like I mentioned, for some odd stupid reason it DOES NOT work when I do it manually (aka when I try to enter DFU mode by pressing buttons).
Thanks for such a quick reply and understanding.

No, all the jailbreaks on 4.1 require dfu.

You do need to put it into dfu but greenpois0n is very clear and understanding. You will be able to get it. No problem!!!

As I thought, same ****. I read, and even follow youtube guide, it just keeps saying TRY AGAIN. It DOES NOT enter the damn DFU mode.
I connect the iPod, turn it off, run Greenpoison, holding sleep for 3 seconds, holding sleep and home for 10 seconds, holding home for 15 and it keeps saying try again and again and again.
Maybe it has something to do with iTunes? Should it be on? Or completely off? Specific version maybe? I am puzzled...

Download RedsnOw 0.9.6rc8
Says redsnow 0.9.6rc8 is for 4.2.1. You're saying I should update?
Also, how do I use it compared to the others? O.o

No dont update. It can be used for 4.1 as well. Just make sure when you open it and click browse you pick a 4.1 firmware. Basically just choose your firmware, select the option to install cydia, then follow the steps for entering dfu.

Shouldnt take that long. You are on xp I assume right form your OS description. If you have a multi-core processor then open redsnow to do the process again, then open task manager, right-click on redsnow.exe under processes and select set affinity. Uncheck all boxes except for one then try running redsnow again.

No man, I'm on Windows 7 and I set compatibility to Windows XP as I read somewhere. Anything else I'm missing?

You can still try what I just said on windows 7. You also may want to start with a fresh restore since you kept trying different jailbreaks after each other.
