I recently jailbreaked and unlocked my girlfriends 3G iphone (3.0.1 firmware) using redSn0w 0.8 and UltraSn0w.
Having had issues with Cydia and not being able to use particular apps on the 3.0.1 the iphone firmware. I decided to upgrade the firmware to 3.1.3
I did this by downloading the 3.1.3 firmware file and in Windows using iTunes I pressed restore and Shift together. The installation seemed to have gone ok. However when it finished, I have not been able to yet jail break the software. The iphone remains in "Emergency Mode" and not responsive to DFU mode. Also, the new sim card is not being recognised so it doesnt let me use Wifi.
I have downloaded the Pwnage Tool 3.1.5 and tried to jailbreak with that but so far no luck. I am concerned that I may have caused damaged to the iphone and will not be able to restore and unlock it again.
If anyone can give me any pointers it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
spiro
Hi guys,
I also need to note. that the iphone was jailbreaked and unlock with my sim card inside.
Would a simple fix be to reinsert my girlfriends old sim card? Given that the iphone was orginally registed on that sim card?
Cheers,
Spiro

Yes it would. Right now all your iPhone needs to be is activated. You then can jailbreak from the iPhone itself with jailbreakme.com. Then use ultrasn0w and you are all set.
If you dont have a official carrier sim to activate then you can use redsnow 0.9.4 to jailbreak and activate on 3.1.3 (point redsnow to a 3.1.2 firmware). You would need to restore to a regular 3.1.3 first.
hey guys. I actually downloaded redsn0w 0.9.4 however upon running it, did not read the firmware i pointed it too... the firmware I downloaded and upgraded to was iPhone1,2_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw .
Did I download the wrong firmware file?
I tried this before downloading the PwnageTool software
Sorry I just missed your "need to point to a regular 3.1.2 firmware! I will try that. Thanks guys.

Hey guys thanks so much for your help. it has saved me alot of time.
I also have a 16GB iphone 3GS (model # A1241) which is also due to not reading the sim card. I think this phone had actually been upgraded to 4.2. I was wondering whether is there is a way to revert back to 3.1.3 and do a similar thing to the previous post.
Please note however, unlike the last phone, the 3GS phone was not previously owned by someone I knew but had been found somewhere and given to me so I know little about its history. If their is anyway of neutralising it and get it working, i would ove to hear it.
Thanks again,
Spiro

You need shsh blob for 3gs for every version of firmware. Even if you can downgrade the firmware, you cannot downgrade the baseband. You will have to go with ipad baseband, but it is going to be lots of fun trying to get it to work especially if you have the new bootrom.
What is your baseband on this 3gs , go download tiny umbrella and check what shsh blob you have on this 3gs.
what combination software would will i need unlock the Ipad baseband?
man... it is so painful watching 10 year old dudes on youtube run through 10 minutes of something that should only take a few seconds so I definately owe you guys!
