it isn't the board, maybe you need a restore or the coil atenna slip out .if it was the board crack , you wouldn't be getting wifi no matter what you do unless they fixed the connection, they lied to rip u off. I am a tech myself, I know these people are not honest

I wonder if the picture is actually of your phone.

yeah, it's working well now.
It's a pretty reputable company, not like a back alley dealer or anything, so i'm hesitant to think they'd lie flat out. I only paid $NZD 69 for them to have a look at it (as i thought it was going to be the antennae)

Maybe they were trying to pull a fast one on you? Hopefully not though.

Ahhh, I've just permanently unlocked my iPhone. I didn't realise this (and for any stressed out locked iphone users out there i'm writing this for you) if you find out what network you are locked to, that network can unlock you.
To find out what network has your iphone locked you need to call apple and provide them with your IMEI number. You can find this by dialling * # 0 6 # (you know when you slide for emergency) or if it is currently unlocked you can see it under settings.
Hope this helps someone out there.
So currently, my iphone is unlocked and the wifi is working (despite having a cracked circle thing on the logic board). I can't seem to do a normal restore through iTunes- i get error 1015 and can't kick it with TU. Only pwned DFU and custom restore 4.2.1 works.Last edited by Raygun; 02-16-2011 at 11:21 PM. That won't help everyone though, not all carriers will unlock it for you (ATT for example). But definitely worth a shot.

Ah, i see.
Hey, so since my iphone is unlocked and wifi working again i tried a flat restore through itunes and near the end got error 1015 (couldn't kick with TU- just went back to recovery mode). So i ended up going back to my custom fw with cydia installed, and for some reason it locked my phone! so i'm back having downloaded ultrasn0w! I'm wondering when the next iOS update comes out, will i be able to flat update to that with my 6.15.00 baseband?

No, you will need to use a custom firmware again.
