I just finish buying a new iphone 4 from the store. I want to know how can I activate my phone without having the carrier sim card? also what can I use to jailbreak it?

If it was just bought from the store then chances are its at stock 4.2.1 firmware and 03.10.01 baseband which there is no unlock for. You will have to obtain the att carrier sim to activate.

You can do a tethered jailbreak at 4.2.1 with no problems and that should get you past the activation but not sure. No untether without having the 4.2b3 shsh blobs saved at this moment.
