My brother just got a used iPhone 3G and of course in his excitement, sync'd it with iTunes and allowed the upgrade to 4.2.1. He then tried to jailbreak. He was successful and installed ultrasn0w from cydia. When he put his t-mobile SIM card in (and yes we turned off 3G), all the phone does is search for a minute then returns "No Service".
So re-jailbroke the phone on a custom IPSW using SnowBreeze which put the phone on 4.1. I jailbroke it and installed
ultrasn0w. I got the same result..."No Service". It seems ultrasn0w is not unlocking the phone. Anythoughts on what why this is happening and how I can correct it....get it to work???
Yes he is SOL. there is a way around it, but I DO NOT recommend it. It uses the ipad baseband and can never be downgraded or restored to a non-custom FW. Very bad idea.
So please confirm...will he never be able to use this phone on t-mobile....or will there be new jailbreak releases that will be able to unlock it for him? Thoughts?
