Default Question About Firmware 3.1.2 on iphone 3g

    Hey guys-

I decided to jailbreak my iphone 3g awhile back.. I jailbroke it, and havent messed around with upgrading at all. It remains at firmware 3.1.2 with a baseband of 5.11.07. I would like to now upgrade to the newest possible firmware while keeping my jailbreak intact. This may be a very dumb question, but how do i go about that? I spent some time trying to find my own answer, but its not exactly easy. If it matters i have redsn0w already installed on my mac and i have itunes 9.2.1

    Thanks!
    Brendan

3.1.2 or 3.1.3 is as good as it gets. Trust me, if you go to 4.2.1 you will not be happy. It's slow, lags, and more slow. Did I mention is was a dog? Do yourself a favor and stay away.

If you insist on going to 4.2.1 ---- use a Custom Firmware to preserve your baseband/modem firmware/unlock. That is the ONLY way!! PwnageTool creates the custom firmware. PwnageTool or Redsn0w assists and iTunes (10+) option/shift/click/select loads.

Good stuff, you have talked me out of it.

However, if i am not upgrading i might have another question. I hadnt loaded cydia in months, and today i tried to boot it up and it was just stuck at the loading data screen. what can i do?

Let it load ... and load ... and load. If it fails, reboot and try again.

It should work if you haven't added one of those crapy cracked repo's. Those are full of crap, dependencies, more crap and really mess up Cydia.

I agree. If you haven't let it load in months, it could take a good long while to load. Lots has changed in the weeks you were gone!
