Custom Firmware Won't Load..

So..

I have an Iphone 3G, 6.15.00 baseband stuck in the recovery loop! I found a link with custom 3G Firmware that everyone else was claiming worked, and it won't work for me. It get's stuck on "Preparing phone for restore" EVERY single time then gives me an error. I've tried different computers, USB ports, the works.

Please anyone, any suggestions?

Yes, I used redsn0w to place it into pwned DFU mode.

I downloaded the custom firmware from this link. It's NOT the first one for the 3GS, it's a bit further down on the page. I can get it into pwned DFU mode, choose the custom firmware, and then itunes gets stuck in preparing it.

Sorry StealthBravo, I misunderstood your question. I've never had to use custom firmware before, because I've never had someone take their phone home and decided to try and update it lol.

Do you have wifi synced installed on your computer ?

Wifi Synced? I do not have that installed to the phone.

Is it stuck at preparing or it throws out error 1015 ? I am not talking about wifi sync on the phone, i am asking if you have wifi sync on your computer.

It gets stuck "Preparing iPhone for restore" and eventually I get an error message. I believe it's 600 or 6000.

I don't have it on my computer either, sorry about that.

And it now is randomly deciding to go through with the restore, after trying all day. Thankyou guys!

Sometimes, a reboot on your pc will help or use another computer.

Ok so, it restored with the custom firmware.

Now I jailbreak it again, but do I do anything special?

Why do you need to jailbreak, you are already jailbroken when you restore to custom firmware. Isn't there a Cydia icon ?

I get a grey pineapple, and then a guy on the screen saying something in another language?

The tutorial on the link I provided, says to now re-do the jailbreak process.

Scroll to next page on your iphone, you should see a Cydia icon.

Ok, I'm completely confused. So I got the 1015 message, but the phone has a grey pineapple and a guy (steve?) with some strange language on it. I can't scroll to the next page, it's simply taking over the screen.

Any clue?

It looks like you are stucked at apple logo ( Steve job face ) Let me think.

Hmmm, Try and do a hard reset. Hold both button until it reboots.

Yes I did.

I did the custom firmware, it completely finished, and then said error 1015. The phone made the connecting beep, and a grey pineapple then that image popped up.

That is equivalent to frozen apple logo. Custom firmware uses Steve Job's face as the replacement of apple logo. Don't you hate him

Did i give you a custom firmware or you used your own. Your custom firmware must not have ipad bb update.

I picked one up, I have Windows so I can't make my own. Do you have any clue where to get one? I've literally been working on this phone for the last two days, I'm dying haha.
