I have a stupid question - I want to update my 3G to 4.1 from 3.1.2, and I do rely on my carrier unlock. From what I gather, I can just download the 4.1 ipsw, run it with sn0wbreeze and make sure to "hacktivate," then re-download ultrasn0w from Cydia?

My baseband is still at 5.11.07. I saved my SHSHs in TinyUmbrella, but it doesn't seem to have one for 3.1.2....only 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, and 4.1. Is that bad?

3g will not have 3.xx shsh blob, only starting at 4.xx firmware.
So you can restore to custom firmware of 4.1 created by Snowbreeze 2.1, you can use redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and browse to stock 4.1 fw, check only the box dfu mode . Once dfu is done, run itunes : shift + restore to Snowbreeze_4.1.ipsw which you have just created on your desktop.

Thanks! Seems to have worked fine - no problems getting into DFU or doing the shift+restore with the snowbreeze ipsw, got the itunes "Success" message, but now my phone has just been stuck on the snowbreeze snowflake boot screen for about 10 minutes and is not being recognized by my computer. Holding the power button down doesn't do anything.

    Please help!

EDIT: Nevermind again, I used iReb to get out of it and I'm going to start all over and try again!

EDIT AGAIN: Nope, same problem the second time around. I just kept getting stuck on the snowbreeze boot logo, but got it to work with a custom ipsw I found online.
