@sasaben, yes do as x98car says. It's essential that we determine your bootloader so you can possibly downgrade your baseband instead of upgrading it. But if not then the upgrade is the only way.

He has a 3GS so his bootloader wont matter, no downgrading baseband for him (at least not yet).
Just download greenpoison form greenpoison.com and follow the instructions it gives you for entering DFU. When it tells you to hold your home button in the last part keep holding your home button until you see scrolling text on the iPhone's screen.Last edited by Simon; 04-14-2011 at 04:15 PM. Thats fine, just press jailbreak at that point. Make sure you keep holding the home button throughout all this until you see the scrolling text.

ok, so i basically get to the jailbreak part and click jailbreak.. its says jailbreaking in the 2 boxes, but shows no progress
i think my phone hates me!

Normally when I use greenpois0n, it takes a few minutes to hold the home button. But if it passes 5 minutes that's not right

Just try the process again. It can take a few tries sometimes.
