unlocked 3g 3.1.2 upgrade question
I want to upgrade my 3g to 4.1 but I had a few questions before I do so. Cydia continues to crash on the "Loading Data" screen after i restored my phone over the weekend. Is 4.1 unlockable & jailbreakable to the t-mobile network? If I do not like it, can i downgrade (shift+restore) back to 3.1.2?
My baseband is 05.11.07, using T-mobile for my carrier, using windows & iTunes 9.1. I either want to use blackra1n or Sn0wbreeze to unlock & jailbreak.
Thanks!

First update itunes to 9.2 or later. If you have not restored to stock 4.1, then to preserve your baseband of 05.11.07 and if you have 4.1 shsh blob, you can create a custom firmware of 4.1 from Snowbreeze 2.1. It is advisable to use expert mode and uncheck activate my iphone to avoid Youtube and syncing issues.
Run redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and browse to stock 4.1 firmware, check the box dfu only.
Run itunes, shift + restore to Snowbreeze_4.1.ipsw

What do you mean Snowbreeze is giving you all kinds of problems. It is so easy to cook up a custom firmware from Snowbreeze 2.1

I got snowbreeze figured out. i deleted it and reinstalled. It wasn't letting me clicked expert or general. it won't let me click unlock either.

You need to make a custom firmware with Sn0wbreeze first and after you have that on your phone you need to go to Cydia and install ultrasn0w (that's the unlock)

Follow this guide

snowbreeze 2.1 has issues for iPhone 3G. On hactivated ones they dont boot, on ones that you dont activate cydia doesnt open. If you dont have a Mac to make a custom one with pwnage tool I would suggest PMing iYeow to see if he has a link for you.

more or less..it's almost as if its not connecting w/ the phone. when i put it into DFU mode & hit Shift+restore, the phone stays blank (w/ 4.1). When i restore it to 3.1.2, it restores perfectly fine..only cydia doesnt work.
i tried snowbreeze, redsnow, custom firmware..everything w/ 4.1
wat am i missing here?

could me having itunes 9.1 be an issue? because when i had itunes10, that messed up my 3.1.2 restore.
i'm ready to throw this phone at the wall!
i just installed itunes 10 and its giving me a 1600 error.
I'm re-installing 3.1.2 for now. i'll just have to live w/o cydia until the problem is figured out..i still want cydia though
