iPhone 3G with 5.15.4 band what are my options?

Hi,

I have 3G which as JB/Unlocked 4.0.1 but foolishly I upgraded to 4.2.1 without noticing those big warnings on band.

Now what are my options with modem frameware 5.15.4?

Can I downgrade to 3.1.2 and JB/UL? I need it unlocked as I am not in USA anymore.

You need the ipad baseband 6.15 in order to unlock your 3g. Run redsn0w 0.96b6 and choose install Cydia and install ipad baseband. Unlock with ultrasn0w to unlock.

I heard that there are consequences of that. Can I not downgrade it to 3.1.2 or something without chagning the baseband?

My phone was unlocked for 4.0.1 before I did this idiotic upgrade.

Sorry for such stupid question, but why is this band so unlucky?

You are out of luck pal, because the Baseband can not be downgraded and that is what is used for the Unlock

As x98car says you can go to 4.2.1 with the iPad baseband and use ultrasn0w for the unlock.

The down side is you may loose GPS and you will not be able to do a Apple stock upgrade until Apple catch up to the iPad baseband, but you will be able to put Custom Firmware on in the future.

It is your only option if you need un lock

The baseband that was on 4.0.1 was unlockable and the Baseband that you have now got is not,

There is NO WAY to downgrade the baseband, so your ONLY option if you need the unlock straight away is to upgrade to the iPad baseband, Run redsnow again and click install iPad baseband.

4.2.1 will be quicker on the 3G anyway and if you lived with 4.0.1 for so long you will be fine on 4.2.1.

s you know it never arrived and i doubt we will see a new unlock before 4.3 comes out, as there are a couple of 4.3 jailbreaks in the pipe line, it makes sense to release the un lock with the 4.3 Jailbreak

If your iPhone 3G has bootloader 5.8 the baseband can be downgraded. Check with f0recast from ih8sn0w.com

If you don't have bootloader 5.8 then your only unlock option is to update the baseband to 6.15.00
