I know there are countless threads related to this, but I figured that with all of the different extensions you can install, none of them are going to be the same. I have an iPhone 4 on 4.2.1 and I used Redsn0w .0.9.6b4 to jailbreak it. Since jailbreak, I've had 20+ crashes a day. As of this minute, my SBSettings tells me I have the following Mobile Substrate Addons:
Activator
AppStoreUpdateSize
CyDelete
FaceBreak
FolderEnhancer
IconSupport
IntelliStatusIconsVi...
LibWeather
MyWi
PopupBlocker
PreferenceLoader
Tlert
WeatherIcon
WeatherIconStatus...
Winterboard
libhide
libstatusbar
It also lists FoldersInFolders as off, but I uninstalled that.
If I had to guess, 'FolderEnhancer' is causing the problems, but seeing as I have 110+ apps crammed into 5 beautiful folders, I'm really hoping not. So my question is... Can anyone pinpoint or help me figure out what is making SpringBoard crash so often?
I'm 98 percent sure it was WeatherIcon. I had it set to update every 15 minutes and that seems to be how often it was crashing. It also only crashed when i was on wifi, so that's another hit against weathericon, as I'm on tmobile and can't unlock my new iPhone 4 at the moment. I took weather icon off and I'm on wifi now and so far it hasn't been crashing, but I'll give it a little bit longer of a test period and post my findings.
I'm not surprised. I had weathericon installed for awhile on 3.3.3 but deleted it. A great idea but it uses lots of memory, lots of CPU, an filled up my syslog (>1M) in hours even when turned off! I'll wait for a better app.
I have it on my iPhone 3G [my main phone right now] and it's running just fine. Slow, dont get me wrong but it crashes maybe once every 2-3 days. I did some reading and found out that if you set the icon to update with the temp, that's what crashes SB. I have it set up again without the icon update and it's running like a dream!!!
