locked phone

hey, I recently accidently restored my 2G iphone (on 3.0 FW) and it locked up (i can only see the emergency call screen). Now, i got this phone in the US and i don't live in the US, however i do have an AT&T sim. How can i activate the iphone? (to get past the emergency screen)

ok, so i found redsn0w o.72 and ran it, and everything seemed to be going fine, but redsn0w finished and it seems to be stuck on "Downloading jailbreak data"
any help?
