    Question New iPad SHSH info

Hey guys, I got a new iPad for xmas, and surprisingly it has software version 3.2.2 installed. It asks me to update to the latest 4.2 version, but I havent.

I used tinyumbrella to save a SHSH backup, but its a little confusing for me because heres what tinyumbrella shows:

    Installed Firmware Version: 3.2.2

but in the Saved SHSH list, it says: iPad 4.2.1 (8C148)

    Is that normal?

    Thanks peeps.

    Yep.

The SHSH blobs you can save for future use have absolutely nothing to do with what's installed on your iPad, but have everything to do with what SHSH blobs Apple is signing when you ask Cydia (in this case, only 4.2.1 is being signed, so that's all you can obtain currently).

Is it possible for me to upgrade to a newer, but not the newest version? Or can I only install older versions that I've had installed on this iPad, and have created shsh blobs? Forgive my noobish questions. I've been reading trying to answer things myself, but it's a lot of info to ingest. Thanks for your help!

you can update only to the newest available but jailbreaking will be tethered for now....so i would just stay there till untethered jailbreak comes out

You can downgrade only to versions you created shsh blobs with?

Is it possible to upgrade to the latest and then downgrade via someone elses shsh blob?

    Nope.

SHSH blobs are signed by Exclusive Chip ID (ECID) number that is unique to each and every iOS device.

Your SHSH blobs will only work for your iPad, mine will only work for mine, etc.
