What is the best Jailreak for Iphone 4G version 4.2

Hello out there. I am looking for some advice. I am new to the forum here. I have had a Iphone 3G for quite some time, and have had it jailbroken since I got it, and never went past version 3.0 jailbreak. I now have the Iphone 4G, and I am desperate to jailbreak it. Can someone please advise me on the best Jailbreak tool for the 4G version 4.2?

redsnow 0.9.6b6, but it is a tethered jailbreak right now.

just as x98car stated, redsn0w is the only way and it is tethered meaning if you lost power or your iphone recycled, you'd have a paperweight until you get to a computer and rejailbreak.

So if I am sitting right next to my computer while jailbreaking the phone then am I pretty safe?

If you have a tethered jb and you go to someware and your phone runs out of power or reboots you can't turn it back on intell you plug it into your computer and run redsnow again.

Ok...Now I understand you. ....So, really if I wanted an effective Jailbreak right now, then is my best bet to downgrade to the 4.1?

Yes, but you would need SHSH for 4.1 to downgrade. Dont worry, a untethered jailbreak should be out soon.
