I and trying to jail break an iphone 4 with 4.2.1 I looked and found a guide to do it and says to download the firmware. when i extract the files, i have encryption loss problems so when i click to restore and look at the file, it can't find the .ipsw file. how can i fix this?

Don't extract, just rename .zip to .ipsw

depends on which browser you used to download the ipsw. No harm in trying.
