I have a 3gs. It is unlocked and jailbroken. Yesterday I was doing my usual updating through app store, ********** etc. When I updated Cydia, it told me to reboot, seemed normal. However, when I did this, it would not boot past the apple. At first, the circle would spin for a few seconds, pause and then spin again but now it won't charge or stay on, it just shows the apple (no spinning wheel) and then turns off. It does this repeatedly if its plugged in.
I'm not sure what method was used to unlock or jailbreak my phone. I also don't know any of the information like the bootrom, baseband, etc. I have an understanding of the technology but I had a friend actually do it for me over this past summer when I got the phone. I cannot get in touch with that friend any longer.
I would like to save my data if possible but it is not something that is absolutely necessary. I just want to fix it so Tmobile, internet, etc is all functioning again.
I just scanned it briefly. As far as I know, there were five "upgrades" or "changes" listed in Cydia. An update to App Cake, an update to **********, and three other, what seem to be minor, updates to cosmetic things I had placed on the phone. Nothing seemed too major!
