I have 2 iPhones that were jailbroke, using limera1n, and unlocked but for some reason when I went to restore them, I did not catch that they were also getting upgraded to 4.2.1 so now neither are working. Just like many of you, I have been waiting patiently for the new jailbreak but I have a few questions for the general audience since I am a relative newbie to this.

1. Since they were once jailbroke, do I automatically have the SHSH and if so where are they? Is there a diffent way to jailbreak since they where done once before?

2. Can I downgrade the OS back to 4.1 (see current details of each phone below) then jailbreak again?

3. Is it possible to just do a carrier unlock without jailbreaking? I'm not interested in apps and all, I just want to use them on T-Mobile.

iPhone 4 running 4.2.1 with baseband of 03.10.01 and iPhone 3GS running 4.2.1 with baseband of 05.15.04

Download tiny umbrella to see what each one has in terms of SHSH. You have to jailbreak to unlock. You wont be ble to do the i4 yet but you can unlock the 3GS by updating to the iPad baseband.

Would I use the iPad1,1_3.2.2_7B500_Restore.ipsw file?

Yes, you would use ipad bb but there is a price to pay : Lose your GPS functionality and also you will not be able to restore to stock fw of 4.2.1 or higher. You can only restore to custom firmware of 4.2.1 or higher in future.

I would do your self a favor and stay clear of the iPad baseband, it is full of problems,

The jailbreak and unlock seems to be just round the corner, so do your self a favour and wait a couple of weeks if you can to see what happens

I just jailbroke and unlocked the 3GS using redsn0w and ultrasnow but had to upgrade baseband to the iPad 06.15.00 and it works! Used Tinyumbrella and saved SHSH from iPhone 4 and successfully downgraded to 4.1 and jailbroke using redsn0w (baseband 03.10.01) BUT it will not unlock....any ideas? Thanks again to all for your help.

There is no unlock for your current baseband.
