No Sim Card Installed Issues

I have Iphone 2g bought in 2008.
Yesterday after some itunes updates.We are unable to use our phone and its into emergency mode.

I am not aware of firmware version and boot mode and all..

I dont have AT&T sim as well.

Which software should be used and how can i identlfy which firmware version related information.

Please help me.


I have itunes 10 version on my laptop.


I have already tried zipphone 2.5 , but it is not able to search my phone and keep searching for long.I used zipphone bcoz when i unlocked it for first time in 2008 i did that with zipphone only.
