ok, say when redsnow asks you are saying yes to the model question right?

You shouldnt be ending up in dfu after the custom restore, and you definitely shouldnt try to boot tethered after that happens. That is what I think keeps causing the issue. I think you may need to take the battery out to reset the phone (leave it out for at least an hour) then try restoring again.

There was apple logo and a bar under it..that filled
Again pine apple logo and it booted
I could actually see the wallpaper, And splash it acted like it didnt have battery though it was connected to usb and produced that sound too when a charger is connected ,and yea the usb cable is fine and charges (confirmed)

Upgrade to 4.0 or 4.0.1 ...... Dont upgrade to 4.1 now as it will update the bb. The official bb of 4.0.1 is 5.13.04 which is unlockable so it wont matter if thats updated

And i honestly dont knlw if it will charfe but i think it might

so yes the iphone is working for now, i charged it for an hour or so
and JUST BOOT TETHETED from redsnow, and unlocked via ultrasnow 1.2
seems like a success story, but not that easy

Now ,whenever the phone goes to standby mode,or if i press power button just to turn off the screen...phone lands in DFU mode

it means the works as long as i am playing with it...when let it alone...it goes back to DFU

try to restore stock 4.1 again

if that doesnt work then either

==> smash your head against the wall
==> smash your iphone against the wall :P

and before doing that, try a hard boot (hold power + home for 10secs then release power but keep holding home for another 10sec)

if your phone goes into dfu mode when you put it to sleep, install "insomnia" from cydia. it is an app that allows wifi and other apps to continue to run even when the phone sleeps. This solves the problem.
However, never let the battery completly die, i accidently did so and can no longer boot.
