iPhone 3g disappears after jailbreak?!
Hi all, first of all sorry if I'm posting in the wrong spot.
I have an iPhone 3g which is failing to boot after jailbreak. I have used Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and firmware 4.0, with iPad baseband 6.15. It appears to be stuck in recovery loop but is not detected by iTunes Recboot or Tinyumbrella. It goes into DFU mode but is still unidentifiable.
Has anyone encountered this before? I have done some googling and after hours of dead ends I'm beginning to get frustrated!
Is there any hope or am I stuck with a nice shiny brick? Thanks in advance!

I dont think redsnow 0.9.6b6 works with 4.0. What firmware are you pointing redsnow to?

I pointed it to 4.0.1, sorry I should have stated the correct firmware in my post. I read that 0.9.6b6 works with 4.0 and 4.0.1 but I have little experience with it and I think I've been mis-informed

You shouldnt even be able to get past the first screen with redsnow 0.9.6b6 browsing for 4.0.1 firmware, It should only recognize 4.1 and 4.2.1 firmware.
For 4.0.1 you would need redsnow 0.9.5-5 and point it to a 4.0 firmware to jailbreak 4.0.1 on a 3G.Last edited by Simon; 12-29-2010 at 03:01 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Ok, good luck

You will need a copy of the 4.0 firmware to point redsnow to though.
