Help: "Erase all content and settings" on jailbroken iPhone 4
I sent my Rogers Canada unlocked iPhone 4 (4.0.2 and 1.59 baseband) to my brother in Spain as a christmas present. Obviously his iTunes told him the phone had been registered on another computer, so he went and did the "Erase all content and settings" option from the settings menu.
Now it just displays the apple logo, and it just reboots. He is able to put it in DFU mode, and both itunes and tinyumbrella can detect it.
Can he get it working again? Does he need to restore it to 4.0.2 through itunes? I'm almost positive I saved the 4.0.2 SHSH blobs through Cydia back in September when I got it. I had him edit the hosts file with saurik's IP, but his itunes says it's not eligible for the requested build..
Is there anything we can do, or does he have to let itunes update to 4.2.1? That'll mean his unlock is gone
But he'll be back in Canada in march.
Thanks for any help

That "erase all contents and settings" button is a doozy on jailbroken phones. It erases the userland portion of the jailbreak, thereby rendering the device unbootable.
If TinyUmbrella is running and returning "iPhone isn't eligible for the requested build" messages, you're not getting it back on iOS 4.0.2 regrettably.
Have him download redsn0w 0.9.6b6, use it to enter Pwned DFU mode, and have him restore to a custom 4.1 IPSW via iTunes (which will preserve his baseband and therefore unlock). SHSHs for iOS 4.1 are required for this method, however. (If you do not access to a Mac or PwnageTool, I'd be glad to link you to a pre-made custom IPSW).
