Can someone answer my questions?
I have some questions I'm curious about the answers
Okay I bought this iPhone 3GS with firmware 4.2.1 (6.15.00 baseband) off craigslist
The serial number starts with 86932
So I'm guessing it's the old bootrom
Anyways my questions are:
1: since it's the old bootrom can I have an untethered jailbreak or I can't because of the fw 4.2.1?
2: when the new untethered jailbreak for the 4.2.1 is out, do I have to restore my iPhone and re jailbreak?
3: if I do have to restore.. Can I with a stock firmware or do I have to make a custom one.. If so where do I make a custom fw ?
Sorry for the many questions but I believe this thread would help many people out (including me) if these answers could be answered
Thanks in advance for all the help!

1) Yes, you can. Use redsn0w 0.9.6b6, point it to the 4.2.1 IPSW file, and instruct it you DON'T have the fixed model (a.k.a., you have the old bootrom).
2) Your jailbreak (now and into the future) is untethered already due to having the old bootrom.
3) Because of your non-standard baseband (06.15.00 instead of 05.15.04 for iOS 4.2.1) you'll have to use custom firmware to restore in the future. PwnageTool or sn0wbreeze can make those custom firmwares for you.

Thanks I'll give untethered a try.. Also is it possible for a custom fw to be made from redsn0w itself?

Though it is an excellent news but there are lot of hidden blockers which yet need to be addressed before it can be used by a naive such as me. The current jailbreak disables BT, works only with Mac OS X, only works for*the current models of iDevices (iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, iPad).
