No computer recognizes my never before activated iPhone 3gs, DFU mode or not.
I've tried different computers and cables with no luck. The computers and phone act is if nothing is happening. The weird thing? A wall charger works fine, and when the iphone was COMPLETELY dead, it charged up to red bar, where it refuses to charge more. iTunes doesn't have anything to say either. I have access to windows XP and Vista as well as a 10.5.8 mac. Any ideas how to get any computer to pick up the iphone? I'm willing to try anything at this point. Thanks in Advance!
the wall charger DID fully charge it though. I worded that incorrectly. the computer goes up to red bar and stops once you get to the emergency screen.
i appreciate you helping. It's an iphone 3gs, 32gb, week 25 (Old Bootrom) I've tried connecting it to multiple computers. Nothing pops up on my pc and the phone doesn't get charged; as if they are not connected. I've tried different cables. The phone has never been activated before. I'm unaware of the firmware unfortunately, the *3001#12345#* method no longer works. I've tried connecting it while in DFU, Emergency screen, and recovery screen (The screen where it's just the cable and itunes, no slide to emergency at all. [I got to it by plugging it in while the phone was off and just holding the home button]) I tried inserting my ATT sim but that doesn't do anything else.
Two computers & different USB ports tried. If you have verified the cable, the phone has a hardware problem. Could be the dock or dock cable. Best to let Apple replace it.
but it charges normally on the wall.. could there really be something wrong with it connecting to the computer with normal battery? also i got this iphone as a present..
what i am asking is if you can see the internal storage of the phone thru windows explorer? ie the directory where pictures are stored..
has nothing to do with i tunes..
also have you noticed if any drivers get installed? did you look in device manager and see?
if no drivers got installed when you plugged the phone in then your probably hosed on this phone, its probably hosed or the dock connector is damaged..
