What program should I use to tether jailbreak my itouch 4g

You can try using the latest version of redsn0w or Limera1n to jailbreak at 4.2.1 and it will be tethered.

I'm trying to use redsn0w but whenever it goes through all the steps and such, my ipod won't turn on and becomes bricked until i restore it again. am I missing something? also the options screen isn't the same as the screenies i've seen. mine looks like:

Restore back to 4.2.1 and wait for a new jailbreak. If you have 4.1 shsh blob, restore to 4.1 and jailbreak with Limera1n.

what's an shsh blob? and should i try limera1n?
