    Default Trasnfering Paid Cydia Apps?

    Hi there,

Long time reader/lurker, first time poster. I just recently updated to an iPhone 4 and was in the process of transferring all my content but I stumbled when I was asked to pay for apps (again) in Cydia that I bought before. Is there a way to transfer the license from my old phone to the new one?

I've seen people suggesting that I contact the developer to transfer my licenses, what's the success rate of that? Since most of the Cydia stuff I have are paid themes, is it likely that the devs heed to my request? Moreover, what's the best way to ask them to transfer?

    Any input would be appreciated

Make sure to log into Cydia using your Facebook or Google credentials (click Purchase this package, then log in).

Once authenticated, you should be free to redownload everything for free. Most developers aren't arsehats about their licensing, so you won't have to deal with any license transfers. If you do, however, have some apps (cough Intelliborn cough) that require transfers, e-mail the dev or (if they won't help) Saurik.

That's the thing, I logged in with my info and it says "No Payment Information on File".

I did notice that there's a "Link device to your account" button that I don't remember pressing. Is that essential to transferring the license?

    Push that button.

That should take care of your licenses.

Yeap, I did press that after logging into my Google account to authenticate with Cydia and it says "No Payment Information on File". I bought the MP2 theme for the iPhone 4 if that's any help.

There were three options presented after authentication (Along with the No Payment message):

    1) Pay $2.99 Now (via Amazon)
+ Keep my information on file.

    2) Pay $2.99 Now (via Amazon)

    3) Pay $2.99 Now (via PayPal)

Since I paid with Paypal, does that mean my payment information is not on file? In my old iPhone it says "Package Officially Purchased" when I go to the theme in Cydia.

Somewhat in the same light, is it possible to check which account is authenticated in an iPhone? I might have logged in with another account but I highly doubt that.

That dialogue appearing means one of two things--you didn't authenticate with the correct account, or you are allowed one device on your license.

On the payment account screen, it'll have the name of the account holder used to authenticate (e.g., John Q. Public, Jane Doe) and the profile picture associated with that account. If they don't match what they should be, then you know you're not signed in to the right account.

I don't know about the MP2 theme, but it's probably worth asking the developer for a license transfer. Specify the UDID (the forty-digit hexadecimal number that appears on the bottom of the Cydia homepage) of your old device and your new one and ask for a transfers. Most, if not all, Cydia devs will happily comply.
